Our 2013 Grand Marshals: Rich and Nancy Kriegsman
Our 2013 Grand Marshals are Rich and Nancy Kriegsman, who were nominated by their children: Katie Bashary, Scott Kriegsman & Amy Meron. Rich and Nancy have been active and involved in Pekin for many years and in many ways.
Currently, Rich is on boards for the Pekin Hospital, Pekin Insurance and Herget Bank. You’ll find the two of them involved with a variety of organizations including the Pekin Civic Chorus, Friends in Harmony, the Transportation Club of Peoria, Grace United Methodist Church Choir and the Pekin Municipal Band. And then there are the past groups, organizations and boards which include the Pekin School District 303 board, the United Way of Pekin and the Pekin Country Club board.
Rich, a 1967 graduate of Pekin High and 1971 graduate of DePauw University, is the president of KMI, Kriegsman Transfer Co. Nancy is a 1970 graduate of Pekin High, a 1974 graduate of the University of Iowa and a retired nurse who last worked at Pekin Community High School. The Kriegsmans were married in 1974 and are the proud grandparents of four granddaughters: Leila, Mai, Mattie & Emmie, who hope to ride in the parade with their grandparents!
The nomination form submitted from the Kriegsman children stated that they are, “very proud of the lessons of volunteering and making your community better that our parents have taught us. Moreover, our parents love our hometown and make strides in all they do to make it a place of pride for future generations carrying on a tradition taught by their parents.” That tradition is evident in that the Kriegsmans are second generation Grand Marshals; Rich’s parents, John and Juanita Kriegsman, served as Grand Marshals in 1984.
We congratulate Rich and Nancy in the well-deserved honor as our 2013 Pekin Marigold Festival Grand Marshals!
