Miss Marigold Crowned
Congratulations to Brittany Sherwood who was crowned Miss Marigold at the 2013 Subway Miss Marigold Pageant. She is a freshman at Olivet Nazarene University, majoring in mathematics.
The Subway Miss Marigold Pageant is a scholarship pageant. Contestants are judged on talent, interview, casual wear, evening wear, and community service. The event was held on Saturday, August 10th at the F.M. Peterson Theater at Pekin Community High School.
In addition to her $2,000 scholarship, Sherwood also received a scholarship for her community service.
First Runner-Up was Sara Alesandrini, a junior at Iowa State University where she is studying interior design. She earned a $500 scholarship.
The Second Runner-Up and winner of a $250 scholarship was Emily Lowman. She is a sophomore at Illinois State University majoring in secondary art education and studio arts: sculpture.
The entire pageant court will also receive scholarships. They include Sarah Hayes, a senior at Pekin Community High school, Lindsey Harris, a freshman at Illinois State University, Loryn Hosteler, studying sign language at Illinois Central College, Anna Vogel (co-Miss Congeniality) an Illinois Central College student studying mechanical engineering technology, Sierra Pool (co-Miss Congeniality) a senior at Pekin Community High School, and Kayla Moore who attends Career Logics Cosmetology School and Illinois Central College.
