Pekin Marigold Festival

Thanks to everyone who participated in and watched the 2012 Pekin Marigold Festival Parade sponsored by Herget Bank.  It was a marigolden morning! It's amazing how quickly all of our Marigold Festival "stuff" gets put away.  Thanks to the Pekin Park District staff for all of their assistance!  There were so many Marigold Festival activities that we couldn't get pictures of everything.  If you have an album posted somewhere online, please let us know and we'll point people in that direction.  We do have some pictures posted at:  http://picasaweb.google.com/PekinChamber

Due to the line of storms that are getting closer, we anticipate closing the Art in the Park and Festive Food areas to vehicles at about 4:30pm.  That means no vehicles on the grass, but you are welcome to walk items to your booth.  Assuming the weather conditions don't change this evening, vehicles will not be allowed into Art in the Park or Festive Foods until 6:00am on Saturday monring.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Due to the uncertainty of the weather forecast for the rest of the day, Pekin Main Street has postponed Friday Night Family Fest.  They intended to reschedule the entire event for another day in the near future. The weather forecast after midnight is great and the rest of the festival will be groovy!

Vendor vehicles are now being allowed into Art in the Park and Festive Foods!  Hopefully the weather will stay favorable.  Be advised that if it starts raining again, we may have to stop allowing vehicles in.  Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Originally, Art in the Park registration and set-up was to begin at 11:00am.  However, due to the rains this morning, (already 1/2 inch and hail) vehicles will not be allowed to drive on the grass at 11:00am.  You can still register, and you will be able to walk things to your booth.  Park staff and committee volunteers will monitor the conditions and open Art in the Park to vendor vehicles as soon as possible.  If this line of storms ends around 10:00am as expected, we hope to allow vehicles in around noon.

The 2012 Marigold Festival Parade sponsored by Herget Bank is this Saturday, September 8th, at 10:00am.  Parade entries should lined-up on Broadway, between Parkway and 14th before 9:30am.  The parade route goes down Broadway, turns right on Court Street, past the Courthouse, then left on Capital where the parade ends.
